Jaco Pastorius Big Band
The Jaco Pastorius Big Band was
formed in 2003 by long time friend and original member of Jaco's
Word of Mouth Big Band, Peter Graves, as a tribute to Jaco's legacy
as a compositional genius as well as bass virtuoso. Mark Griffith
has been the drummer for the band since it's inception. The band has
recorded two CD's for the Heads Up International Jazz label.

The first recording
released in August of 2003 titled "Word
of Mouth Revisited" sold over 50,000 copies worldwide and won
the prestigious
2004 Jazz
Week Record of the Year award.
The latest CD titled "The Word is Out!"
was just released and is already getting major airplay on all Jazz
and satellite jazz radio stations, and the record is climbing the
sales charts.
The band has toured Japan, Belgium, The Netherlands, and the U.S. in
support of the first recording, and is now embarking on a set of
2006 tour dates for the new CD, including a trip back to Japan. See
